Yamis was created because AI should be something for everyone – not just for a few with huge data centres who decide what is good and what is not. AI should be private and simple, something that belongs to you.
That is why Yamis lets you run the AI model that suits your device best and use it with every convenience: in the app, in the browser, on the command line and while programming. If something is missing, just open a ticket in Yamis with your wish.
The vision
Good AI should not belong only to big providers. Capable language models now run on perfectly ordinary computers – if you know which model really works on which device and how to configure it. That is the hard part, and that is exactly what Yamis takes off your hands.
Yamis measures on your device, with real tasks, which model works best, sets it up and gives you the tools to go with it. Your data stays with you. The service is free and is meant to grow together with the people who use it – what comes next, we decide together with you.
The dream
One day to own an AI server – around 30,000 euros at today’s prices – to run and train our own models that are every bit as capable as the big ones and can still run locally. We are a long way from that, but that is the direction.
What we offer
Measured, not guessed
Not spec sheets but real tasks decide: does the model on your machine solve a programming task correctly – and how fast? On the very same laptop, the right settings alone turned 0 out of 2 solved tasks into 2 out of 2.
Agents that ask
Yamis plans, reads, writes and checks on its own – but every change and every command only runs after your “yes”. Dangerous commands are blocked for good, and every step stays traceable.
Tools included
Chat in the browser and as an app, a command line right in your project folder, an editor (TStorm) and a terminal (Nisse) – all talking to the same Yamis and the same conversations.
Better together
If you like, share your measurements anonymously. That way Yamis learns faster, with every new graphics card and every new model, what works – for everyone.
Free
The models run on your device, not on ours. That is why Yamis can be free – without ads and without selling your data.
More than code
Yamis also manages servers, designs 3D objects for printing, reads PDFs and listens to voice messages. Just say what you need – Yamis works out how.
Where we are
Yamis is already in daily use: it writes and reviews code, looks after servers and helps build its own programs. The version for everyone – with the program that measures your device and sets up the right model – is under construction. We are opening Yamis step by step: sign up and we will send you your access details as soon as a place is free.
To be honest
Yamis is a hobby project. We do not know yet how it will be financed. It is meant for everyone, and as long as I can, I pay the costs myself. Beyond a certain size we will have to see how it goes on.
Ideas are welcome – for example a give-and-take where your model does computing for others and you get computing time in return. Maybe this grows into something big that nobody can foresee today. Maybe not. We are giving it a try.
